What is solar energy?
Solar energy is essentially the act of capturing the sun’s rays and converting them into energy. In your home or office, the rays are captured in solar panels, and then the energy is converted to electricity that can be used to reduce your home’s personal demand from your utility company (“the grid”). The reduction in demand results in lower utility bills.
What are the benefits of solar power?
► It is renewable since it feeds off the sunlight. As long as the sun is shining, solar energy is available.
► It is environmentally friendly and doesn’t emit harmful gases into the air.
► There are government tax credits available in some areas to offset the cost of purchasing a solar power system.
► Solar power allows for less dependency on the power grid and is a self-sustaining power source.
► Solar power offers quiet and efficient energy production
► The long-term savings on a solar power system are well-worth the initial investment
► When more power is generated than is being needed, energy can be sold to the grid causing electric meters to spin backwards.
